Christmas EGGNOGLAN (also: Charity Event)

Posted at 8:09 PM, Thursday 20th November 2008 by Wayfinder

In the unending hustle that is modern Christmas, it's easy to forget that Christmas is a time to come together, to give, to take a break from the petty everyday and to violently reduce each other to our component elements.

Fear not! EGG has you covered with the Electronic Gamers' Guild Nights Of Gaming LAN!

For three days & two nights, EGG will gather to celebrate the impending holiday the way we do best - gaming, food, gaming, drink, gaming. PC gaming console gaming tabletop gaming roleplay gaming more gaming than YOUR BODY HAS ROOM FOR.

In the spirit of Christmas, all profit from the LAN will be donated directly to the Sydney Children's Hospital branch of Child's Play!

So come along for an awesome time and support a good cause to boot!

When: Thurs 11th Dec 9am - Sat 13th Dec 2pm (doesn't conflict with Anime's Christmas party anymore!)
Where: Harry Heath Haruhi Room, Level 3, UTS Tower.
Cost: $5 per day nets you LANny goodness, with all the coke & water you can drink! ($5 more nets you an epic meal - so $15 more nets you breakfast, lunch and dinner as provided by The Butcher. Once you run the numbers, you'll see this is actually cheaper and will net you better food than dragging yourself over to McKFSubway.)

To book*, go to this handy registration form and let us know when you'll be showing up and which meals you'll want. Remember to confirm once you're sure you're coming - that's what the 'Confirm' button is for, after all. <!-- s:P --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_razz.gif" alt=":P" title="Razz" /><!-- s:P -->

*We'd prefer you book, so we know how many drinks we need and who needs to be on Security's list of allowed non-students. If you want the foods then Morgan needs warning by midnight on Monday 8 December - so book nao! Not that we'll turn you away on the day if you don't, but still...

EGG, Exams and Events in November.

Posted at 7:45 PM, Tuesday 11th November 2008 by rel715

All EGG events except Friday Consoles will run till the end of November. That is Tuesday night, Thursday Night and Friday Night.

Exams tend to result in a reduced attendance and a general desire for unstructured events, as such:

The usual event format is being dropped for the rest of the month.

Instead, for the rest of the month, all events will take the form of camping the EGG room.
People are free to choose whatever entertainment they want, computers and consoles can be brought out at any event as can any of the other equipment.

To keep things running smoothly, please follow the rules:
- An exec or supervisor must be in the room
- Don't have your fun at the expense of other peoples fun
- Keep the room clean
- pack up after yourself

Pretty much common sense.

Good luck with exams if you have them. EGG will start running holiday events in earnest in December.

In the mean time, watch this thread for one-off events, changes or general chatter.

Diablo 2 (Full)

Posted at 1:58 AM, Sunday 13th July 2008 by Sophismata

This event is currently full, though additional people will be considered (in posting order) should places become available.

Remember, this event is subject to change depending on circumstance, and our standing with the Union.

When: This event is currently scheduled for to be decided. We will meet up, organise the PC's grab food and start the process of starting the event. This is a multi-day event - it'll likely last until Sunday (deatils will be worked out). If you don't have time, then please leave a place for someone that does.

Location: The room has yet to be booked. It will likely by in the Harry Heath, though this is not definate.

Cost: There is no attendance fee, however, you are expected to share in food and drink costs, should you wish to eat/drink. Food is likely to be pizza.
Also, you are expected to pay the standard $5 fee for using an EGG computer should you choose to do so. Attaching a computer such as a laptop to our networks garners a $3 fee. (the events master)

Regarding the version: I've attached a poll to help determine version number. I just remembered that 1.0 has a forced resolution of 640x480, which may or may not be desirable.

Diablo 2, Oldskool!

We play N/N/H Diablo 2 in oldskool mode. Before things were changed to accomidate the botters, the dupers and the hackers. Before the game was rebalanced for Ladder, back when everybody was overpowered and you could buy Vampiric Broadswords of Slaughter from Fara in Act 2...

Back when we had...

Version 1.0

When Telekineses worked, Whirlwind was awesome, and the Sorceress could fill a room with fire in under 5 seconds.

Corpse Explosion was King, only one class had Teleport, and Rare items were better than Uniques.

This is before items were changed to accommodate twinks, when D2 was still new and gritty, and you could bring your level 20 buddy into Act IV because Mephisto liked to cast Town Portal.

lol
