Consoles event change for tomorrow

Posted at 12:35 AM, Thursday 1st May 2014 by w00dy

[click-spoiler">Hey everyone, Consoles tomorrow will be held in the Underground (where the Glasshouse Bar used to be), over in what I am told is called the Chalet.

Apparently.

Its the swanky area with all the TVs just off the main bar area. We'll have our banners up to help you find your way if you get lost.

ALSO, the bar is currently open as a part of the new space's opening celebration. I'm told that if the bar does well enough, they'll keep it running, rather than only running it for special events.

IF THIS HAPPENS, THIS'LL MEAN TWO THINGS:
1: You'll all get access to the bar. Like, there will be a bar there. That you can access.
2: We'll no longer have to pay a small fortune to get the bar opened every time we want to run an event with the bar! This means more big fancy events like trivias! We'll be able to run the 10th anniversary event(finally)! Events that I haven't even written here! Exclamations!

So yeah. Consoles. In the bar. Be there. Help us get the bar back again. Play games. All that jazz.[/click-spoiler">
^^ copy of my unnecessarily long post from ferceberk.

TL;DR Consoles in the bar tomorrow. The bar will be open. if the bar does well, it'll stay open. This is a thing we want. It makes it much easier for us to hold events etc.

[One Off Event] LoL Tourney (crosspost from the LoL thread)

Posted at 11:26 PM, Sunday 13th April 2014 by w00dy

Hello, fellow EGGs (EGGers?)! After much delay, we are proud to present the first ever LoL tournament at UTS! The bulk of the tournament will be organised over Facebook, so please join our Facebook group if you haven't yet. Following this is the details of the tournaments, copied and pasted for your convenience.

Why are we holding this tournament?

Our main objective is to bring together League of Legends players of all levels of play, as well as from all faculties at UTS. Hopefully, this tournament will allow us to grow closer as a community.

This could include less-skilled players learning from their experience, rivalries being created, players contacting each other for games, and more people participating in our group chat.

------------------------

What format is this tournament?

This tournament is of double elimination format.

Upper Bracket - Best of 3
Lower Bracket - Best of 1

------------------------

How does double elimination work?

Should you lose in the upper bracket, you fall to the lower bracket, where you will play against other lower bracket teams in best of 1 sudden death games.

Should you lose in the lower bracket, you will be eliminated from the tournament.

The idea is to give all teams a second chance to show what they're made of, and so you don't all go home salty after losing one match.

------------------------

Brackets are found here:

http://challonge.com/y9p9s1d

-------------------------

When is the tournament happening?

The tournament will be held over the course of a month. Teams are recommended to figure out times to play on their own. In the event that no time is agreed on, a time will be set.

-------------------------

What's the cost of entry and what are the potential prizes?

This tournament is FREE! Prizes will be substantial amounts of RP and/or skin codes, to be confirmed at a later date.

-------------------------

Who is eligible to play?

Everyone at UTS! We don't judge you on your summoner level, tier or division - as long as you love League of Legends, you're welcome to play.

--------------------------

Team Requirements:

Each team must have a minimum of 4 players currently studying or working at UTS in any capacity. This includes first years, post-graduates, lecturers and janitors!

It is highly encouraged that your whole team be composed of UTS players, but we will allow one non-UTS player if you absolutely can't find a fifth.

If you worried about not having a team but want to compete, try using the UTS LoLSoc channel in the game client, and ask if anyone wants to form a team. Chances are there are probably other people who wants to play but do not have a team.

Substitutes are allowed, but please contact an admin if you are planning to use a substitute during one of your games.

---------------------------

What details do you need to provide in the Google Doc Application?

1) Name
2) Summoner names and ranks
3) Team name
4) Team captain
5) UTS email addresses (we assure 100% confidentiality)

Posted at 4:08 AM, Tuesday 25th February 2014 by Lynneh

[Image removed.">

On April 5th we will be running a Non Electronic Gaming Day (or NEGG if you will) for International Tabletop Day. We have a huge selection of games for you to play, but if you have something you think we might love feel free to bring your own to share.

People who attend will be asked to give a gold coin donation for Childs Play Charity. This is a charity close to our hearts as they donate games and entertainment to sick children in hospital.

Wet and Wild Sydney

Posted at 6:46 PM, Monday 21st October 2013 by Sophismata

Updated 2013-10-24

As many of you should know, the Wet 'n' Wild water park is opening this December. I have made enquiries into a group event, and the reply has been pretty positive.

At this stage, I am still gauging interest, but if you have any intention of visiting the park this may well be your best option. We're looking at 45% off the regular cost of entry, and I am investigating group lunch and other options. We're also seeing if we can have the event subsidised by the Union, so costs could be even lower.

Please register any interest in this thread - this isn't a confirmation; but there is no point pursuing this opportunity if no one here cares about it.

[Project Event] Model Painting

Posted at 11:50 PM, Saturday 27th July 2013 by w00dy

EGG has gotten itself some models, and they're currently a trifle monotonous in colour. Over the coming weeks, we will be rectifying the situation.

The first of these painting days will take place in the Harry Heath Room on Sunday 11th August from 2pm, and will repeat each fortnight (or sooner) until all models are people and monsters of colour.

***Update*** Painting day is cancelled. UTS is currently without power, and security isn't letting people into the building. There'll be another painting day in a fortnight, possibly sooner.
