I will tentatively pitch an idea:

I think we should try start up a board (slash card) gaming group. I've immensely enjoyed the few I've played (e.g. Munchkin Quest, Battlestar Galactica, Catan, WoW minis, A Game of Thrones, Hive, Navia Dratp, etc) and I think it would be awesome to get people together to play each other and/or teach noobs like me how to play. My ideal situation is a group that runs weekly, with new games constantly being introduced every week.

Other than that I have no real ideas as to time/place/etc but I figure that there should be some expression of interest first :P

Pretty much already happens, friday nights are our general relaxed meeting night and we often play a board or card game there, also the role-playing days are a good time to drop in and play one of our longer games such as starcraft or arkham horror though i would post in the Role-playing and tabletop section to organsise players , also check my blood bowl thread as it may be relevant too, i have some teams you can borrow and the games can certainly be considerd a board game.

i know its a bit early, but i suggest we have

the electronic bloodbowl tournament

This would involve a knockout match between competitors on the soon to be released blood bowl game for the PC, so it is possible to have a LAN tournament.
I know there are a few who would like to play bloodbowl, but are not enticed by the idea of paying 40+ bux on figurines and spending endless hours on them

If only that was true, I wouldn't have been in the manicomio in the first place, I'd probably just be a jolly fat man, happy to crank out model after model, animation after animation. to all the children around the world in 1 night, every night.

Subfuture: Thanks for the info, as you can see I'm a total noob. I'll check everything out =) Too bad about friday nights though - I'm usually busy.

Jayzilla: I've played the LCG with only 2 players and the base sets. So I can't really comment on the deck building or role choosing aspects.
I like the game for the simplicity of its rules (the ones on tzumainn.com are a bit better written than the actual book I think). Once you learn them the game pretty much runs on automatic. Another bonus - fast to set up and fast to play. The plot cards add a higher level of strategy and can make or break a game, which is a good thing. The base sets are very balanced with both strengths and weaknesses. E.g. Starks are high in military/power strength, have lots of combos, and lots of unique characters, but they suck intrigue-wise and generally money-wise. Lannisters are pretty much their exact opposite. And Targaryens and Baratheons also play in opposite ways. In summary: the game is nice, casual and fun.

Well, the big downside I can think of right now is that the game would probably get really predictable after a while, unless you take the effort to buy expansions and build new decks. I definitely wouldn't get obsessed enough with the game to do that ><"

sounds pretty cool, the base set has been staring at me on the internet for awhile. Might just go ahead and grab it then.
From memory the way the expansion decks were was fixed cards to replace some of those in the base decks. Ie if you wanted to be better at X or win through Y you pulled some cards. But without playing it, I could be wrong.

Casual and fun does more appealing then some of my other ccg related interests.

But building/constructing decks is half the fun... Or maybe thats just me

friday night is pain for me as well, maybe thursday night could be done

Thursdays would be good for me too. Maybe we can fix something up. Right now it doesn't matter so much, as I consider myself still in my 'settle back down into uni/the daily grind'. *cough*

I actually picked up the core set for the Game of thrones LCG and played it a few times with a friend. I like the style of the game, just some of the decks need a little tweaking. Planning to order the expansions for them. I find some of the plot cards a little weird for some of the decks.

Thursday night would be good normally I think.

With halloween just around the corner, it'd be cool to have some form of horror-related gaming event. Perhaps another 'lets play' like recent the Monkey Island one. I have a copy of Silent Hill 2 that could be used - I haven't actually played much of it myself.

It'd probably need to be after the semester finishes up though, since I'm sure everyone is busy right now.

With everything that is coming up - there probably isn't time.
But like Flays idea for halloween theme last year - what about a halloween movie night?
Feels like its been a while since we have chilled out and watched some movies :)
